Obama Loves Austin (In a Non-Creepy Way)

I hit up the Obama concert rally last night in front of the capitol. It was a nice little speech, though he's no John Edwards (what an odd thing to say). I was put off by his bit about how his policies aren't liberal--they're common sense. The thing is, his policies are liberal and I would rather see him standing up for them as such rather than speaking derisively of the word "liberal". Otherwise he hit all the right notes, including a strong defense of his mandate-free health plan. He referred to himself in the third person a couple times, as if "Obama" is some kind of ethereal being for whom Barack is merely a vessel. I guess that's part of the whole brand management thing his campaign has been remarkably successful at thus far.

The man, the myth.

The motorcade I saw flying down Lavaca before the debate Thursday.
